Smart Procurement Helps To Save Electricity Bills
  • Use energy saving light bulbs. Although the initial cost is higher, but energy saving light bulbs can last up to ten times longer.
  • When procuring air conditioners or refrigerators for the office, look out for The Energy Label. The label ranges from one to four ticks. The more ticks the label contain, the better the energy efficiency of the appliance. When purchasing other equipment, also compare the energy efficiency levels. Some products may have a higher initial cost, but may last longer and achieve more savings in energy consumption in the long run.
  • Consider installing occupancy sensors in areas such as toilets and pantries so lights will be switched off when the area is not occupied.
  • Ensure that machines and equipment are maintained regularly. Over time poorly maintained equipment may deteriorate in energy efficiency. Regular maintenance and even replacement of obsolete machines and equipment may help to achieve better energy efficiency.
  • If you are a large consumer of electricity, it may be worthwhile to consider an energy audit, which can help you to identify areas to improve on for energy efficiency and reduce electricity consumption.
